I gave a charitable donation of £8000 from taxed income in June 2016. As a higher-rate tax payer, I would like to claim back the income tax on this donation. I do not normally fill in a tax form. Do I need to fill in a P810? If so, how do I get hold of this form? 11:14 AM

Ok I have updated your records with the gift aid payment of £8000 and you will get a calculation through the post shortly 11:32 AM

JONATHAN DEANE
Thank you. Actually, I give the same church approx £100 a month: should this be added in too? 11:34 AM

RYAN

I would need an exact figure 11:35 AM

JONATHAN DEANE
I understand. It's inflation-linked so it was exactly £100 a couple of years ago but is now a little more than that. Can't tell you the exact figure just now - the details are at home and I'm at work. How best to get this info to you, e.g. tomorrow? 11:37 AM

RYAN

yes as soon as you get the figures we can update your record 11:40 AM

JONATHAN DEANE
Just a mo, I have an e-mail here with the figure: it has been £101.30 for the last year, going up to £103.93 from 1/12/17. Is that what you need to update the record? 11:41 AM

RYAN

that's great I have updated your records with those figures 11:44 AM

JONATHAN DEANE
OK, many thanks Ryan. Now I just await a letter from HMRC? With a P810 from in it? 11:45 AM

RYAN

you will get a p800 letter and a cheque will follow shortly after that 11:46 AM

JONATHAN DEANE
