GRADUATE SCHOOL ON

ERGODIC THEORY

Department of Mathematics, University of Surrey, Guildford, Surrey

Monday 16th – Thursday 19th March 2009.

Organisers: Henk Bruin and Ian Melbourne

This graduate school is aimed primarily at PhD students but is also open to postdoctoral fellows and others with interests in ergodic theory and/or dynamical systems.

Dates and times: Arrival Monday morning 16th March. Lectures Monday afternoon, all day on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 10-12noon on Thursday. Please click here for the full schedule.

On Friday 20th March, we are organising a One Day Ergodic Theory Workshop. Participants of the school are welcome to stay on for this workshop, but it is an unrelated event. Please click here for the details of the workshop.

Speakers and topics

Cor Kraaikamp (Delft): Ergodic theory of numbers Download the Lecture Notes.

Ian Melbourne (Surrey): Dynamical systems and probability Lecture Notes to follow shortly

Roland Zweimüller (Vienna): Infinite ergodic theory Download the Lecture Notes.

Costs

Participants need to pay their own registration fee, accommodation, travel and meals. If you are an EPSRC funded PhD student your university may be able to refund these costs. Please ask your supervisor or Head of Department.

The registration fee is £100, to cover the expenses of external speakers and other costs of running the course. The fee includes refreshments but no meals.
