Welcome
My name is Martin Wolf and I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of Mathematics at the University of Surrey. I am a member of the Mathematical Physics Group here at the Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences.
I hold a PhD in Mathematical Physics from the Leibniz Universität Hannover. I also hold a Diplom (MSc by research) and a Vordiplom (BSc) in Physics both of which I received from the Technische Universität Dresden.
Prior to my appointment in Surrey, I was a Senior Research Fellow and College Tutor at the Wolfson College in Cambridge, an STFC Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, and a Research Associate at the Imperial College London.
Please visit my biography page for a detailed curriculum vitae.
I am a mathematical physicist with interest in string theory. My research ranges from formal areas in mathematics to applied areas in theoretical physics such as:
- Twistor geometry and applications to differential geometry
- Integrability in string and gauge theories and hidden symmetries
- String theory/gauge theory dualities including gravity/fluid dualities
- Membranes in string and M-theory
- Supergravity
- Solitons and instantons
